Ka Hikitia - Managing for Success: The Māori Education Strategy 2008-2012 (PDF V1.4 800kb) is a broad reaching five-year strategy aiming to transform and change the education sector, ensuring Māori are able to enjoy education success as Māori. This strategy is about realising potential, understanding and accepting that culture counts.

Kits are available that include the strategy document, Te Mana Kōrero Highlights DVD and the summary. These kits are available in English and te reo Māori (please note that the DVD is only included in the English kit).

Enter the Ngārimu essay competition for cash prizes!

If you’re Māori – and in Year 7 and up – then now’s your chance to take part in an awesome essay competition. 

Enter to take home cash prizes and earn the mana of being a 2008 Ngārimu VC and 28th Māori Battalion Essay Competition winner!  Winning students win prizes for your schools and have your winning entry published in the Ministry of Education’s Taiohi magazine.

All you have to do is visit the ministry’s website, pick an essay topic, write your best-ever essay (in English or te reo Māori) and send it in to the Ministry of Education by Friday September 26. 

Why wait?  Grab a teacher for ideas and support, talk your whānau, do some research and get your kōrero flowing.
